Just wrapped up a three-day site visit. Three customers from three different industries all ultimately hit the same snag. Let me start with three real on-site cases.
A 12-inch wafer fab PVD chamber: stable yield suddenly dropped by 1.5 points. The equipment and process teams checked target materials, chamber cleanliness and shields for two weeks before thermal desorption testing finally revealed trace organic contamination — traced back to **the process piping**.
A biopharma lyophilization suite: a batch of monoclonal antibody feedstock worth millions was scrapped; sterile testing showed excessive particulates. The three problems look different — one is yield loss from organic contamination, one is a scrapped batch from particles, one is uneven process. Ordinary PTFE without surface treatment releases at ppm level. Ultra-clean PTFE requires ppb-level impurity control; its outgassing rate is 30–50x lower than ordinary PTFE, meeting the contamination requirements of high-purity processes.
Do not look at the tube alone — the outgassing and leakage of the fittings must be controlled together. Ultra-clean vacuum lines require the overall (tube + fitting) outgassing rate to meet the 10^-9 Pa·L/s level, to suit high-vacuum and ultra-high-vacuum processes.
It resists most corrosive process gases and solvents. The passivated inner wall has no loose layer, so no micron-scale particles shed during long-term use, avoiding contamination of downstream process chambers or products.

Q1:How to choose between VCR and KF fittings? Must ultra-high vacuum use welded VCR?
Choose by vacuum grade: high/ultra-high vacuum at 1e-6 Pa and above must use full-welded VCR, whose leak rate is two orders of magnitude lower than KF quick-fit; medium-low vacuum at 1e-5 Pa and below is fine with KF quick-fit, which is easier to disassemble and maintain.
Q2:What is the vacuum service life of an ultra-clean PTFE hose, and when must it be replaced?
Under normal high-purity process conditions, the vacuum service life of KUNGFLEX BR179 is 3–5 years. It must be replaced immediately when pressure holding no longer meets requirements, process impurities exceed limits, or the wall deforms/cracks after bending.
Q3:Can helium-mass-spectrometer leak testing be done directly on the customer site, or must it be returned to the factory?
As long as a helium leak detector is available on site, the line and interfaces can be re-checked directly on site. BR179 is 100% fully tested at the factory, so no return is needed; only the connection points need re-checking on site.
