The new riser support system for FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading units) is installed on the side of the hull and is used to support and secure the risers (oil and gas transfer pipelines) connecting the subsea production system to the FPSO. It ensures stable operation in harsh marine environments with strong corrosion, high loads, and frequent waves over an operating lifespan of up to 30 years, while realizing the lifting, deployment, retraction, and locking functions of the risers. In recent years, this system has achieved domestic breakthroughs from materials to core components.
In this system, flexible hoses play an irreplaceable and critical role. Acting as the “jumper hoses” connecting the FPSO and rigid risers, or as part of a hybrid riser system, they directly endure extreme environmental challenges:
1. Bearing core loads: Technical analysis indicates that the tension at the connection between the hose and FPSO is the maximum stress point in the entire system, requiring extremely high tensile strength and fatigue resistance.
2. Adapting to complex movements: The FPSO continuously moves in wind and waves, significantly increasing the hose's dynamic response and internal stress. The hose must possess excellent flexibility and dynamic response capability to absorb such relative motion and ensure safe transmission.
3. Meeting stringent standards: Deepwater riser hoses are multi-layer composite structures (including skeleton layers, sealing layers, compression/tension armor layers, insulation layers, etc.), which must possess comprehensive properties such as corrosion resistance, high pressure tolerance, wear resistance, and long service life.
Therefore, the FPSO riser support system not only provides structural support but also creates a stable working environment for these high-performance, high-reliability flexible hoses. The quality of the hoses directly determines the safety and lifespan of the entire oil and gas export system. FPSO-specific hydraulic hoses and ultra-high-pressure delivery hoses that meet deep-sea operational requirements provide reliable “flexible connections” for this critical system.
